Great Britain is part of the larger fellowship of the European String Teachers Association, founded, in Austria by a group of eminent and dedicated string teachers including Marianne Kroemer, Max Rostal, Nannie Jamieson, Paul Rolland and Yehudi Menuhin.

The current President of the Central Committee is Edith Peinemann (Germany) with Vice-President Kjell-Ake Hamren (Sweden), Treasurer Käthi Gohl Moser (Switzerland). Other members of the Central Committee are Peter Esswood (Great Britain)and Aino-Marika Riikjärv (Estonia).
